The Lyke Wake Company Limited

ARCHIVES

As explained in other parts of this website, the general interest archives (photographs, press cuttings, samples of reports and thesis submissions, most of the signing-in books, club regalia etc) has been deposited with the Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton-le-Hole.  The more serious archives such as the 'centuries' book and many volumes of administrative/business material and circulars have been deposited at the North Yorkshire County Records Office in Northallerton.
Information relating to the Lyke Wake Company Limited including financial reports are not in these archives as this is a current trading company, this information is available in the public domain through the usual channels

There are however, a lot of 1960's through to 1980's audio recordings of the transactions of Wakes held at Potto Hill, Queen Catherine and Osmotherley Village Hall, and recording of several versions of the Lyke Wake Dirge.  These have all been digitally enhanced and transferred onto audio CD's as part of the transfer of archives to the museum and Records Office. If anyone wants to purchase any copies of these please contact the office.  At this stage I can not give a final cost as this depends on possible interest--enquire if you are interested.

There are also several video CD's, most of these are commercially copyright to the BBC or ITV as they have been copied from video tapes and have only been done to enable the video archive to be held at the museum. It is the museums responsibility to clarify the matter of copyright for any possible public (and/or research) viewing.  There are two video films that have been done privately and are less complicated to copy,  these again could be available if anyone is interested.
